Have Scalpel –Will Travel! (Memoirs of an Older Surgeon) - by Barry Hicks.
A book written by a surgeon who devoted much of his life to the care of the poor in rural Ethiopia. An inspiring and gripping story of huge interest, especially to any in the medical profession or with an interest in Africa. Situations described so vividly will amaze and appal, but the lives saved will also amaze! It is a well written story by a man of great courage and integrity who as a young man gave his life to Jesus Christ and then to the needy in Africa.
It can be purchased online at www.havescalpelwilltravel.com
Cost is $24.95 + postage of $2.75

Unlike the scribes, the widow realizes that her giving must be sacrificial. She gives what she has with her heart to make an offering appropriate to God. We may give little or more but if we give with all our heart God will bless us. Every little thing counts. The First Letter to the Corinthians says ‘Whatever you do in the Lord’s service is never useless’ (1 Cor 15:58) (Give thanks for those in the world who are less fortunate but still give to the needy. Pray that God will bless them abundantly.
